Glossop creates with inclusivity in mind - ‍Glossop LGBT+ Exhibition

January 24, 2024

Forming part of the Dark Peak Photo Festival, Glossop Labour Club is hosting a one-off Glossop LGBT+ Exhibition throughout February.

The inclusive exhibition is also part of LGBT+ History Month, which acknowledges and celebrates the past, present and future of the LGBT+ community.

Debbie Windley from the exhibition commented: “Glossop’s LGBT+ group wanted to raise its visibility in the community. This is especially important for young people exploring their gender and sexual identity to see the diversity in their community.

“Local people were asked to submit pictures which reflected the LGBT+ History Month theme, which are; Claiming our past, Celebrating our present and Creating our future.

“We have been delighted by the range of themes that have been submitted for the show, demonstrating our diversity, struggles and hopes for the future.  We are pleased to also be part of the Dark Peak Photo Festival. The exhibition shows the power of photography in exploring and expressing identity, and we hope that it will be a catalyst for more events for people who identify as LGBT+.”

The LGBT+ exhibition opens with an event, 7-9pm Friday 2nd February, and the exhibition runs throughout the month until 28th February. Visit www.glossopcreates.com/whats-on/dark-peak-photography-festival to find out more about the wider Dark Peak Photo festival.
